08-29-2021:  Acts 8:13-40

Notes: Acts Chapter 8 is loaded with doctrine and answers to false doctrine. Simon the Sorcerer believed and was baptized. Later he tried to buy the Holy Spirit's ability to perform miracles from Peter.

Peter said to him, “Your money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God could be purchased with money! 21 You have neither part nor portion in this matter, for your heart is not right in the sight of God. 22 Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you.

Hebrews 10:26 The 2nd Law of pardon says that Simon must now pray for forgiveness of his sin in order to continue to be saved.

08-22-2021  Acts 8

Notes: Saul of Tarsus agrees in putting Stephen to death. Saul was a Pharisee and studied under the most famous Jewish teacher of all time, Gamaliel. Gamaliel was a leader of the Sanhedrin at Jamnia. Gamaliel wanted to leave the Christians (The Way) alone, his thoughts were that over time they would disappear. With the death of Stephen the persecutions spread to the entire Church, no longer just the Apostles. Saul ignored Gamaliel and began his role of leading the persecution of the Christians abroad.

John 4: Jesus describes to a Samaratin woman that presently Christian worship should take place in Jeruselem, but in the future, true worshipers will worship me in Spirit and the Truth. Worship will be based on the Truth of God's Word and how you do it and the Spirit with which its done (Attitude).

Today the Word of God (Bible) is ubiquitous. We no longer need signs and miricales for the confirmation of God's word.

04-18-2021  The Scene at the First Christian Pentecost

Notes:

Every man heard them speak in his own language.

The need for tongues will cease once the gospels are recorded in book form some 100 years later.

Peter delivers the first gospel sermon at Pentecost

Peter quotes from Joel 700 years earlier. About sending a comforter or spirit of truth. The Kingdom and Church are one in the same. The last days decribed by Joel were about the first day of Pentecost. We have been in the last days for the last 2000 years and will continue until Jesus returns at which time we will meet him in the Sky and be with Father for ever.

The last days described by Joel began on the first day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came down on them beginning the Christian Age.

Acts 2:21 "And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved." Also look at and consider Acts 22:16 "And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord." What this is saying is to be saved you have to come into contact with the blood be burried with him in Baptism to then rise and walk in newness of life (born again), thats calling on the name of the lord to be saved.

  • V: Acts 2:1-21, Acts 2:17, Joel 2:28, 1 Corinthians 13:8

Tip: When you study the bible, study everyting that is written on a particular subject

04-11-2021:  Baptism by Spirit and Water

Notes:

Only two Bible accounts are called Holy Spirit baptism: the apostles on Pentecost and Cornelius' household. God determined who would receive it; it was not up to men to choose whether or not they would receive it. It was not administered by men, but was sent directly from the Lord in heaven. It was never necessary to salvation, but was given in the age before the Bible was completed for the purpose of bestowing miraculous gifts to enable men to speak God's word by direct revelation and/or to confirm inspired revelation by means of miracles. Whenever it was given, apostles were always directly involved. Since there are no apostles today, it cannot be received today by anyone.

  • V: Acts 2, Acts 10, Acts 1:21.22

The baptism of the Great Commission was a command for everyone in all the world who would choose to believe . It is administered by men for salvation from sin. Each individual must choose for himself whether or not to receive it. As such, it is still essential to every person today. The element in this baptism is water.

  • V: Mark 16:15,16; Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 2:38; 22:16; Romans 6:3,4; Galatians 3:27; 1 Peter 3:21, Acts 8:35-39; 10:47,48

04-04-2021  Easter

Notes:

  • Those who are Christ's will be resurrected.
  • Body, Kingdom, and Church are all one in the same. Christ is coming back to deliver these to the Father.
    • 1 Corinthians 15, 1 Corinthians 12:13

Month of March 2021

03-28-2021:  Acts 1:1-11

Notes:

  • Luke wrote the Book of Acts. To begin this study we'll start at the end of Luke 24:44.
  • The Book of Acts covers the period from the time of Pentecost (The start of the Christian Church) to around 64 A.D.
  • Luke was a physician and a very accurate historian.
    • V: Luke 24:44-53, Acts 2:38

03-21-2021  The Perfect Law of Liberty

Notes:

  • Where there are prophecies they will fail, where there are tongues, they will cease, where there is knowledge it will vanish away. When Jesus left this earth, he gave the apostles the ability to perform miracles to confirm his word. When that which is perfect has come (James 1 The New Testament is the perfect law of liberty), then that which is in part (9 things apostles could do to confirm the word) will be done away (miracles will cease).
  • Today we are under the new covenant, the perfect law of liberty. When the New Testament was compiled into book form, the miracles ceased. They ceased because there was no longer a need to confirm the word. The word has been brought together and we read it now from scripture. This is sufficient evidence for us today to believe and obey the message about Jesus and his expectations from us.
    • V: Mark 16:17-20, James 1, 1 Corinthians 13:8-10

03-14-2021:  The Great Commission

Notes:

  • Mathew and Luke's account of when Jesus was headed back to heaven, he said that we are to go evangelize. The Great Commission. He gave the apostles the ability to do miracles.
    • Mark 16:15-16

03-07-2021  Moses’ Law is Obsolete

Notes:

  • Jesus has been resurrected. He arose early on the first day of the week. Things have changed.
  • We are under a new covenant. The old covenant is obsolete. The ten commandments are obsolete, Moses’ Law is obsolete, it has been replaced by the new covenant (the New Testament).
  • God’s plan from the beginning was for the new covenant to prevail. The old covenant’s purpose was that of a school master or a tutor.
  • Rightly dividing the word of truth, is understanding the difference between the Old and New Testaments. We build on our faith by reading the New Testament (the new covenant).
    • Mark 16:9-14, Hebrews 8:13, Galatians 3:7, 2 Timothy 2:15
